- Highest forest fire level expected in northern Saxony

Drought and heat are currently increasing the forest fire risk in Saxony. On Wednesday, the highest warning level 5 will be reached in the northern regions of the state, according to a forecast by the German Weather Service (DWD) and the state forestry agency of Saxony. On Tuesday, warning level 4 was already in effect in the northern parts of the state. Starting from Thursday night, the DWD predicts showers and thunderstorms, which should ease the situation.

Saxony has five forest fire danger levels. Level 1 indicates a very low danger, while level 5 indicates a very high danger. During levels 4 and 5, it is recommended to avoid the affected forest areas. Those who are still in the woods must not leave the main paths. The districts can impose additional restrictions.

The German Weather Service (DWD) and the state forestry agency of Saxony have jointly issued a forecast, predicting that warning level 5, indicating a very high forest fire danger, will be reached in Saxony's northern regions on Wednesday. Despite the upcoming showers and thunderstorms starting from Thursday night, as predicted by the DWD, individuals are advised to avoid forest areas during levels 4 and 5, and if still present, they should not leave the main paths to minimize the risk.
