3rd league - High penalty for Hansa after fan offense
The Disciplinary Court of the German Football Association (DFB) has fined FC Hansa Rostock, the future third-tier team, 300,000 Euro for unsportsmanlike conduct of their fans in nine cases. The club can use up to 100,000 Euro for safety-related or violence-preventive measures, which the DFB must be presented with by the end of the year, according to the ruling. The club has agreed to the verdict. Therefore, it is legally binding.
The nine offenses occurred in eight different Second League matches since February. For instance, Rostock fans, according to the DFB, brought two remotely controlled cars onto the pitch during the match against Hamburger SV on February 17, each with a smoke generator.
Another unsportsmanlike behavior occurred, for example, on the last matchday on May 19, when the Kogge's relegation was sealed. Rostock fans reportedly set off 40 Bengal fires, two blinkers, a smoke bomb, a flare, and at least one other pyrotechnic device during the game against SC Paderborn. In addition, numerous flare projectiles, at least nine rockets, black smoke bombs, red flare guns, and at least three very loud flares were ignited, launched, or thrown onto the pitch during extra time. The game had to be suspended by the referee for 28 minutes due to this.
