Before the District Court of Cologne, on Tuesday (13.00 hours), a compensation claim of a victim of abuse against the Archdiocese of Cologne will be heard. The woman is claiming 830,000 Euro compensation for the suffering inflicted upon her. She was the former ward of a priest, who was sentenced to twelve years in prison in February 2022. The man, as determined by the Cologne District Court, had sexually abused nine girls in Gummersbach, Wuppertal, and Zülpich between 1993 and 2018. The woman claiming compensation was a victim in the 70s and 80s. The man was subsequently dismissed from the clergy.

In a similar case, the Cologne District Court granted another victim of abuse 300,000 Euro compensation. The plaintiff had been sexually abused as a messenger for many years in the 70s by a priest.
