HFC regain courage in relegation battle after 2:1 against Cologne

Hallescher FC can breathe a sigh of relief: thanks to the 2:1 (0:1) win against Viktoria Köln, the team from Halle has managed to climb out of the relegation zone after six weeks and has gained new courage in the fight to stay in the 3rd soccer league. "This success is incredibly important for the team. As a coach, I can do, do and say that we're good. It's no good if you don't get any results. We're good, we can play any opponent," said coach Sreto Ristic, delighted with the fourth win of the season.

After 45 minutes, it did not look like a win for the very committed hosts. The team from Halle missed three top-class chances through Dominic Baumann (3rd, 24th) and Tunay Deniz (25th). The visitors made the most of their second opportunity and took the lead through Luca Marseiler. "We didn't go crazy despite the setback, but remained cool and courageous. We forced the equalizer," said HFC coach Ristic. Erich Berko (64') took advantage of a misplaced pass from Cologne keeper Ben Voll after a pass from Aljaz Casar to make it 1:1. Julian Eitschberger (76') made the win perfect with the first goal of his professional career, which the hosts also owed to their strong defensive performance.

"We hardly had anything going forward. If you add up the scoring chances on both sides alone, Halle deserved to win," said Cologne coach Olaf Janßen.

In the context of their soccer matches, Hallescher FC played against a team from the 3rd league, Cologne. Unfortunately, HFC trailed until the 3rd league coach Ristic encouraged his team, leading to a comeback and victory in the Hall.
