Olympic Games - Hesse's Minister President promotes the Olympics in Germany

Hessian Minister-President Boris Rhein has expressed strong support for Olympic Games in Germany. "The time is ripe for Olympic Games in Germany. Germany can do it," said the CDU politician during the farewell ceremony for Hessian Olympic participants in Wiesbaden.

The hosting would be an important signal to the outside world. "Peace and understanding among peoples – that is the Olympic idea. Germany's sports family can credibly represent values such as fairness, respect, and humanity," said Rhein. Furthermore, he suggested Hessen as a potential host for individual competitions, such as cycling events.

The Olympic Summer Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024, in Paris. The Paralympic Games 2024 will be held from August 28 to September 8 at the same location.

Boris Rhein, being a prominent figure in Hesse's politics as the CDU politician and Minister-President, advocated for hosting the Olympic Games in Germany, expressing his belief in Wiesbaden during the farewell ceremony for Hessian Olympic participants. His support for the games aligns with Germany's commitment to promoting peace and understanding amongst global populations, values that he believes the German sports community can credibly embody. Should the Olympic Games be held in Germany, Boris Rhein suggested that Hesse could potentially host specific events, such as cycling competitions, along the Rhine.
