- Hessen forest records increasing wind energy revenues
The State Forestry Administration of Hesse reports increasing revenues from the leasing of wind power plants in state forests. While earnings in 2019 were almost 5.99 million euros, this figure - also due to special effects - reached nearly 12.97 million euros last year. This is shown in an answer from the Ministry of Agriculture to a parliamentary question from the Green faction in the Hessian state parliament. The special effects are attributed to increased electricity revenues of the contract partners before the electricity price brake.
There would also have been an increase in lease revenues solely due to the addition of wind power plants, but this would have been significantly lower, the State Forestry Administration said. Neighboring cities and municipalities were involved in the revenues via the so-called wind dividend.
As of the end of March this year, 149 wind power plants were in operation on the areas of the State Forestry Administration of Hesse, with 27 more under construction, as the ministry explained. In total, there are around 500 wind power plants in Hessian forests.
The increase in earnings from the State Forestry Administration of Hesse can largely be attributed to the leasing of new wind turbine facilities. The operational wind power plants under the administration, including the 27 under construction, total around 500 across Hessian forests.
