Hertha win test match against Altglienicke

After two recent draws in the 2nd Bundesliga, Hertha BSC won their test match against VSG Altglienicke with ease. Playing without goalscorer Haris Tabakovic and captain Toni Leistner, the capital club won 4:0 (1:0) against the regional league team coached by Union Berlin legend Torsten Mattuschka on Thursday. Florian Niederlechner (13th minute/61st), Marten Winkler (46th) and Derry Scherhant (69th/foul penalty) scored the goals for the favorites at the Hanns-Braun-Stadion.

As expected, Hertha dominated the game and gave keeper Marius Gersbeck a largely stress-free afternoon. Initially, the Berliners missed many chances, but after the break the second division side were much more composed in front of goal.

After the international break, Hertha will face fourth-placed Hannover 96 on November 24. The Berliners are currently only in twelfth place in the tight 2nd division. Coach Dardai had set a target of fourth or fifth place by Christmas.

The Berliners also announced something else for the future: Hertha will cooperate with Karlsruher SC in youth development. Specifically, this involves "a detailed exchange between the coaches and a general philosophy in youth development. In addition, regular comparative matches between the U-teams are to take place," Edmund Becker, head of the KSC academy, was quoted as saying in the press release.

In their upcoming fixture in the 2nd Bundesliga, Hertha BSC will face Hannover 96 on November 24, aiming to climb up the table after their recent draw streak. Meanwhile, Hertha BSC has also established a youth development partnership with Karlsruher SC, involving regular matches and a shared philosophy between their U-teams.
