Hertha now has 50,000 members
Second-division soccer club Hertha BSC has broken the 50,000 member mark. "We've done it! Our Hertha family is growing and growing," the capital city club announced on its homepage on Wednesday. The number has been growing steadily in recent years. In May, Hertha had reported 46,057, and now the growth has continued despite relegation from the Bundesliga.
However, city rivals Union Berlin have now clearly left the blue and whites behind after a prolonged neck-and-neck race. According to the latest figures, the Bundesliga club has more than 62,000 members.
Despite Hertha BSC's steady member growth, reaching 50,000 members, they now trail behind 1st FC Union Berlin in the Bundesliga. Union Berlin boasts over 62,000 members in Bundesliga 2, surpassing Hertha's membership count.
