Hertha coach on the table: "Where did we start?"

Hertha coach Pal Dardai believes his team is on target in the table. The Hungarian said on Thursday ahead of the home game against Karlsruher SC on Saturday evening (8.30pm/Sky and Sport1) that he had heard in the newspapers that the second division club was mediocre. "I have a question: Where did we start this season? That there might not even be a season because of the license. We gave up the whole team and brought in a new one," said the 47-year-old.

Berlin are in twelfth place, but missed out on a jump into the top half of the table in the game in Rostock (0:0). The team must now consolidate its position in mid-table, said Dardai. "Then we can talk about the next stage," said the coach. Sporting director Benjamin Weber also emphasized: "Since what felt like a fresh start against Braunschweig, we've had four wins, two defeats and a draw. If we count from the time the squad was fixed, we're on the right track."

Dardai was only partially satisfied with his players' training performances last week. "The level of play wasn't that high this week. I missed a few things," said the coach. "In terms of fighting, everyone played their part and tried everything. I'm excited to see what happens at the weekend."

A win against Karlsruher would be important to go into the international break with a good feeling, said Dardai. The crowd will be right against KSC, with whom Hertha have enjoyed a fan friendship for decades. 60,000 tickets have been sold. "Everything is there for a mini-festival," said Dardai. "You have to have respect for the opponent, eat grass, really destroy the new pitch, score goals and win."

Hertha BSC is set to face Karlsruher SC in Bundesliga 2, a match that holds significance for both teams due to their long-standing fan friendship. Dardai, the Hertha coach, mentioned that a win against Karlsruhe would be essential to enter the international break with a positive mood.

Despite Karlsruhe SC being spoken about in the media as mediocre, Hertha's coach Pal Dardai believes that they had their own challenges this season, having started with a new team and almost missing out on a season due to licensing issues.
