2nd league - Hertha coach Fiél hopes for next test match

Adverse weather conditions during Hertha BSC's first test game against Football League Two side FSV Bernau denied new coach Cristian Fiel insight into his new team. "We've only been training for four days, so it's to be expected. But not under these circumstances", said the 44-year-old after the 7:0 victory over FSV Bernau: "It had no meaning whatsoever."

Rain had been falling before the game and the pitch in Bernauer Compulan Arena was waterlogged. Two more showers during the 90 minutes made things worse, especially in the last half hour, preventing good combinations. Fiel was looking forward to gaining initial insights, which is why the test was scheduled so soon after the training start. "But not under these conditions, no one can do anything."

The lively start with goals from Derry Scherhant (5th, 8th, 25th minute), Palko Dardai (8th), and captain Fabian Reese (21st minute) was halted by the heavy rain, leaving only Gustav Christensen (47th minute) and Florian Niederlechner (86th minute) to successfully convert their efforts after the break. "The way we scored in the beginning was appealing to me", commented Fiel.

Kempf out

Fiel was relieved that, aside from Marc Oliver Kempf, no one else was injured under the adverse conditions. "You have to be careful in such weather, as one can easily slip. The last four days have not been easy for the boys. There was already fatigue in their legs. My concern was that something muscular would occur." Kempf, who joined ten other new players in the second half, only lasted around 15 minutes before going to the dressing room. "He said he felt something in the upper part of his body", said Fiel, who also had to forgo the signing Kevin Sessa.

The next test is against Regionalligist Rot-Weiß Erfurt on the following Saturday (3:00 PM). Fiel plans to measure himself against the training sessions during the week: "I'll only reveal the training content after the game, so everyone can see if it was implemented or not."

  1. Despite the heavy rain, Hertha BSC Berlin was able to secure a 7-0 victory in their test match against FSV Bernau, with key contributions from players like Derry Scherhant and Fabian Reese.
  2. Despite the adverse weather conditions, Cristian Fiel was able to identify some positives in Hertha BSC Berlin's performance, particularly their early goal-scoring abilities.
  3. Marc-Oliver Kempf, one of the new players at Hertha BSC Berlin, was forced to leave the game early due to discomfort in his upper body.
  4. The next test for Hertha BSC Berlin will be against Regionalligist Rot-Weiß Erfurt, and Cristian Fiel plans to evaluate the team's training progress afterwards.
  5. Cristian Fiel is aware of the challenges presented by adverse weather conditions and ensures that his team is cautious to avoid injuries, particularly as they adjust to their new training routine.
