Bundesliga 2 - Hertha coach Dardai hopes for a "nice Christmas"

Coach Pal Dardai of second-division soccer club Hertha BSC wants to enjoy the upcoming festive season by continuing their unbeaten streak. "Get a point away from home and win the last game so that we have a nice Christmas. We want to remain unbeaten," said the 47-year-old ahead of Saturday's visit to 1. FC Kaiserslautern (13:00/Sky). The Olympiastadion will host promoted VfL Osnabrück at the end of the year on December 16 (1:00 p.m./Sky).

If the coach's calculations work out, the Berliners would go into the winter break with 25 points. Hamburger SV, currently third in the table, have 28 points after 15 matchdays. After Hertha's poor start to the season with zero points and goals after three matchdays, the team has pulled itself together since the end of the transfer window and has been unbeaten in seven competitive matches, including the two wins in the cup against Mainz 05 and HSV.

"The only negative thing in recent weeks has been the draws," said an annoyed Dardai. Hertha had good chances when they shared the points at Hansa Rostock, while they let leads slip against Karlsruher SC and Hannover 96. The team could have had six more points in their account. This would have put the Bundesliga relegated team one point behind HSV. And Christmas would have been even better.
