Hertha BSC still in mediocrity: Only 0:0 at Hansa Rostock
Hertha BSC were unable to take the momentum from their DFB Cup win against Mainz 05 into the league. The Berliners had to make do with a 0-0 draw at FC Hansa Rostock in the 2nd Bundesliga on Sunday. They missed out on their third consecutive competitive match win and are stuck in mid-table. Four days after reaching the last 16 of the DFB Cup against Bundesliga side Mainz (3-0), Hertha BSC missed good chances against Rostock, particularly at the start of the second half. Despite the first draw after three defeats, 14th-placed Hansa remain in the relegation battle.
Both teams neutralized each other before the break. The defensive lines of both teams dominated and hardly allowed anything to happen. The game became livelier after the break. Berlin's Pascal Klemens (53rd minute) hit the post with a shot from 18 meters, Fabian Reese (63rd minute) was unlucky with a header against the crossbar. Jonjoe Kenny had the best chance for the relegated Bundesliga side from the capital when he failed to beat Hansa goalkeeper Markus Kolke from close range. The hosts came back into the game in the closing stages and created several good opportunities. In the end, it remained a fair draw.
Hertha BSC's attempt to build on their DFB Cup victory against Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga 2 fell short, as they could only manage a 0-0 draw against Hansa Rostock, who despite the result, continue to battle relegation in the 14th position. The Berliners had several opportunities to score, particularly in the second half, but passes from Pascal Klemens (53rd minute) and Fabian Reese (63rd minute) hit the post and crossbar, respectively. Hansa's goalkeeper, Markus Kolke, also had a close call with Jonjoe Kenny's shot, ensuring a draw for Hansa Rostock in the Bundesliga 2, where Hertha BSC remains in mediocrity.
