Football match to take place. - Hermann views security forces prepared for the European Championships.

Germany's state government in Bavaria, led by the Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann (CSU), feels confident that their security forces are well-prepared for the upcoming European Football Championship, which kicks off on Friday. While acknowledging an increased level of threat due to the event, Herrmann is hopeful that the games will be enjoyable and stress-free for everyone involved.

Preparations for securing the Euros have been underway for months, with the authorities working closely with the EU Border Guard Agency, Frontex. Herrmann confirmed that they are monitoring those with links to Islamism or other forms of extremism attempting to enter the EU from its external borders. Additionally, border control measures in Bavaria have been intensified. However, he does not foresee extreme traffic congestion due to the presence of local police.

Over 2,000 police officers and women will be patrolling Munich during the championship's opening match, the location of which is not further specified. There is a daily information exchange between states about known hooligans and potential threats of Islamic radicalization.
