People - Hegenbarth: Financially independent and emancipated as a mother
Actress Wolke Hegenbarth says she felt emancipated as a new mother. "Because I have managed to be completely financially independent of my husband to this day, despite being a mother," said the 43-year-old on Tuesday evening on the fringes of the "Frauen100" networking event in Berlin. That was quite unusual in the first period after the birth of the child. Her son was born in 2019.
She continued: "It felt very good to be able to take care of yourself and your child at any time. It made me feel very emancipated."
For actress Ursula Karven (59), the feeling came at a different time: when she got her driver's license, she said. According to the actress, who comes from the village, emancipation means personal freedom, and the driving license at the age of 18 gave her that. "It meant a lot to me that I then saved up for a car, and from that moment on I was free. I have fond memories of that."
The networking event sees itself as a platform for women in politics, business, media, sport and entertainment. In addition to Hegenbarth and Karven, Natalia Wörner and presenter Nina Moghaddam were also there. CDU politician Julia Klöckner and Minister of Labor Hubertus Heil (SPD) also took part in the event.
