Heavy transport with wind blade continues through the Black Forest
The spectacular heavy transport of a 68-metre-long rotor blade for a new wind turbine in the Black Forest is to continue this Monday. The special vehicle with the wind turbine blade was stuck on a slope, according to a spokeswoman for energy supplier Badenova. "The ground was too wet," she said.
The transport had rolled through part of the Black Forest community of Biberach in the Ortenau district at walking pace on Thursday before the interruption. The utility Badenova Wärmeplus is building a wind turbine around 230 meters high on the nearby Kallenwald in the neighbouring municipality of Seelbach.
The plant is due to go into operation at the beginning of next year. According to Badenova, it will generate around nine million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, which roughly corresponds to the needs of 6,000 people.
According to the Ministry of the Environment, a total of 770 wind turbines were in operation in Baden-Württemberg at the end of September. The green-black state government responded to the sluggish expansion of wind power by setting up a task force in 2021.
The disruption in the heavy transport of the wind blade caused by the wet ground may delay the arrival of necessary energy for approximately 6,000 people, as the operational wind turbine relies on the blade's installation. Efficient transportation of these energy-producing blades is crucial for the country's sustainable energy goals.
