In the coming hours, massive rainstorms might move southward, reaching the High Rhine and the northern Alpine foothills, according to forecasts. Throughout the evening, fierce thunderstorms with heavy rainfall could lash the Alps region. For eastern Germany, the DWD anticipates thunderstorms that could dump 15-25 liters of rain per square meter in a short span of time from the afternoon onwards. Locally, there's also a likelihood of more intense thunderstorms, which may cause up to 30 liters of rain per square meter.
