Following significant rainfall in northern Germany on Sunday, the country could face further thunderstorms on Monday. The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts heavy showers and lightning strikes to sweep through southern and central parts of the country early on Monday.

In the Baden-Württemberg region, the chances of experiencing local thunderstorms with heavy rains increase from midday onwards. Showers and hail may also occur. The western part of the country is expected to remain mostly dry at first, but short showers and isolated thunderstorms could develop in the afternoon. Temperatures will be ranging from 19 to 24 degrees. In Lausitz and Lower Bavaria, the temperatures could reach as high as 26 degrees.

As per the latest predictions, a band of showery and prolonged heavy rainfall is expected to move from northwest to southeast on Monday night. There is also a probability of thunderstorms.

Flooding in cellars was reported in various parts of northern Germany on Sunday, resulting in traffic interruptions. The Lübeck fire department disclosed, in a statement made in the evening, that they had handled 105 emergency incidents related to the weather. The majority of these involved pumping out water. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The Schleswig-Holstein region, specifically the community of Lasbek-Gut near Hamburg, faced river overflows that led to significant flooding. According to Wehrführer Sven Oberkofler of the German Press Agency, about fifteen to twenty people were evacuated from their homes. The flooding had submerged a road to a height of 75 centimeters, thus prompting the use of boats from the German Life-Saving Society. Southern Hamburg also experienced flooding, as documented by the fire department on their website.

The storms in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern caused numerous accidents on the A19 and A20 highways on Sunday. However, these accidents did not result in any serious casualties, as confirmed by the police in the morning.
