Heavy rain expected in southern Germany - weather service issues storm alert.
A new warning suggests that rain showers could bring up to 40-70 liters of water down within a short space of time. The weather is predicted to worsen come Monday evening, as it spreads southwards into the Upper Rhine and the northern Alpine foothills. There, a storm alert has been issued. Also on Monday evening, there'll be intense thunderstorms with heavy rain in the Alps.
In Thuringia, Saxony, east Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg, and Berlin, there's a warning about thunderstorms with heavy rainfall of 15-25 liters per square meter on Monday afternoon and evening. This intense rainfall has led to flooding in some regions of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, necessitating evacuations in certain areas.
