Heavy rain expected in Berlin and Brandenburg

Berlin can expect between 20 and 35 liters of precipitation per square meter in just a few hours on Sunday. And that's not the only thing Berliners should be prepared for.

Weather - Heavy rain expected in Berlin and Brandenburg

After a rainy and partly thundery night in Berlin and Brandenburg, people have to prepare for heavy rain also on Sunday. Throughout the day, there is a forecast for thunderstorms and gusty winds, as the German Weather Service (DWD) reported. This may result in rainfall amounts between 20 and 35 liters per square meter in a few hours, as well as hail in some areas. According to DWD, the highest temperatures are expected to be around 23 degrees in Prignitz, 31 degrees in Niederlausitz, and around 29 degrees in the Berlin area.

According to DWD's forecast, the last showers will move towards Poland by night on Monday. The temperatures will drop to between 13 and 16 degrees with light to moderate winds. On Monday, DWD predicts more showers and partly thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 21 to 24 degrees.

In contrast to other federal states, where several police spokespersons and spokeswomen reported numerous interventions due to storms on Sunday night, there were no major interventions in Berlin and Brandenburg, according to the spokespersons of the police presidiums of both states on Sunday morning.

On Sunday, residents of Berlin and Brandenburg should expect heavy rain and potential thunderstorms, as per the German Weather Service (DWD)'s forecast. The amount of precipitation predicted by DWD ranges from 20 to 35 liters per square meter in a few hours for these areas. Furthermore, hail might occur in certain regions.
