Heavy penalty for Münster for pyrotechnics in the cup
Third division club Preußen Münster has been fined 106,950 euros by the German Football Association (DFB). This was announced by the DFB on Thursday. Preußen fans had set off a considerable amount of pyrotechnics on September 26 before the DFB Cup match against Bayern Munich (0:4). The DFB spoke on Thursday of at least 15 firework batteries and at least 20 other pyrotechnic objects.
The Bundesliga founding member can use a good 35,000 euros of the fine for security or violence prevention measures. The Prussians agreed to the verdict, which is now legally binding.
Despite the heavy fine, Preußen Münster is still eligible to utilize a significant portion of the 106,950 euro penalty for enhancing security and preventing violence at their sports court. The German Football Association (DFB) imposed the penalty following the use of pyrotechnics by Preußen's fans during the DFB Cup match against Bayern Munich.
