Current Climate Report: - Heavy downpours and thunderstorms occurred on Monday.

Berlin and Brandenburg welcome a new week with thunderstorms and heavy rain, as per the German Weather Service (DWD). From Monday afternoon, expect severe thunderstorms with hail and large rainfall amounts, reaching up to 35 liters per square meter in some regions. A strong wind blowing at 70 kilometers per hour also accompanies the storm. However, in other areas, winds will be relatively calm. Temperatures will rise to a range of 23 to 26 degrees.

Tuesday night brings more discomfort, with thunderstorms and heavy rain expected. Up to 30 liters of rainfall is predicted per square meter in a three to six-hour span. Fog and clouds will cover certain regions, and temperatures will drop to 14 to 11 degrees. The wind remains weak.

Though Tuesday has some potential for thunderstorms, it's more likely to experience rain from a dense cloud cover, along with occasional strong showers. By evening, it becomes less humid. Skies start to clear up, and temperatures warm up to 18 to 22 degrees. Moderate winds are expected.

Rain clouds will shift eastward on Wednesday night, causing temperatures to plummet to 12 to 8 degrees. Wednesday's forecast predicts occasional sunshine alongside continual cloudy skies. The region between Prignitz, Havelland, and Fläming will continue to experience rainfall, while other places remain dry. Temperatures climb to 20 to 24 degrees.

In contrast to Berlin, Potsdam might escape the worst of the storm, with thunderstorms predicted but less severe rainfall expected. The Weather Service forecasts up to 20 liters of rain per square meter in Potsdam.

Thunderstorms were not a rare occurrence during Berlin's weather history. Recorded files from the German Weather Service show that on certain years, like 2005 and 2018, Berlin faced numerous thunderstorms, causing significant disruptions.

In the midst of these Berlin thunderstorms, some parts of Brandenburg might experience drier weather conditions, as the rain clouds are expected to shift towards the east, towards regions like Potsdam and Brandenburg an der Havel.
