Weather - Heat in Saxony-Anhalt: first tropically warm night expected
People in Sachsen-Anhalt have to prepare for summer-like temperatures on Saturday. While it remains dry in many parts of the country during the day, there is a chance of brief showers and thunderstorms in the southern Burgenland in the afternoon, as the German Weather Service announced on Saturday. The night from Saturday to Sunday could be the first tropical night of the year, with temperatures not falling below 20 degrees.
The extreme heat will bring more humid air with a tendency towards thunderstorms to the region. A complex of thunderstorms is expected to move from the southwest towards the northeast and pass through the Burgenlandkreis at night. In some areas, heavy rainfall with amounts between 20 and 40 liters per square meter in a short time is possible. The thunderstorms are expected to move north-eastwards on Sunday morning.
Despite the heat wave in Sachsen-Anhalt, the Weather Service predicts a change in Weather for Burgenland, with the potential for thunderstorms and brief showers in the afternoon. On the contrary, Saxony-Anhalt is expected to continue experiencing summer-like temperatures.
