Heart failure was the most prevalent reason for hospitalization due to heart problems in women and men from Saxony-Anhalt, leading to 17,037 hospital stays last year. The diagnosis of heart failure as a heart problem resulted in a higher number of hospitalizations compared to other conditions such as atrial flutter or fibrillation. Despite the increase in hospitalizations by 0.2% compared to the previous year, the number of hospital stays in 2022 was still 16.4% less than in the pre-pandemic year 2019. These statistics reveal that heart problems continue to pose a significant health challenge in Saxony-Anhalt. The high number of hospitalizations due to heart failure emphasizes the importance of preventive measures and appropriate treatment strategies for heart diseases.
