Head of transitional government: Nobel Prize winner Yunus returns to Bangladesh
Yunus was appointed as the head of a transitional government on Tuesday following weeks of violent mass protests and the departure of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin. The economist had helped millions of people in the South Asian country escape poverty in the 1980s by providing microloans. In 2006, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for this work.
