Emergencies - Hazardous substance leaked in the Deutsches Museum

The German Museum in Munich opened with several hours delay on Friday due to a gas alarm in the "Kinderreich" section. A sensor had tripped before the opening due to a chemical reaction, the museum stated. "Chemicals had come into contact with each other in the water treatment plant of the Kinderreich, causing steam formation." The team was able to clearly detect the smell.

The fire department was on site to identify the released chemicals and to ventilate the building. Visitors waiting in line were informed about the situation. They were advised to visit the traffic center at Theresienwiese, an annex of the museum, in the meantime. Tickets for Friday will be exchanged if necessary. The museum opened at 12:15 pm.
