Bundesliga's second division - Häßler sees KSC fighting for promotion.
Former international Thomas Häßler has confidence in Karlsruher SC's potential to compete for promotion in the upcoming 2. Bundesliga season. Speaking at a gathering with the 1996 European Championship winners at Europa-Park in Rust on Monday, he expressed his hopes that the Badeners can rise to the occasion.
Häßler described their previous campaign as "outstanding," emphasizing the need for "a touch more consistency" to compete effectively. "When others wilter, you must be there," the 58-year-old urged. With their fervent supporters behind them, the KSC could have "plenty of opportunities."
Häßler, a past midfielder for the club during his playing days in the 1990s, credits head coach Christian Eichner for the team's recent success. He believes that Eichner, who enjoys widespread fan support and has delivered notable achievements throughout his nearly four and a half years in charge of the KSC, is doing "an outstanding job."
The absence of clarity regarding Eichner's contract extension, with the current deal running through June 30, 2025, but containing an exit clause, baffles Häßler. "I don't understand why there's so much waiting to renew his contract," he noted. He adds that settling the coach's future would bring "peace" to the club.
