Haseloff: "Stand unwaveringly by Israel's side"

Saxony-Anhalt's Minister President Reiner Haseloff (CDU) believes that Germany's solidarity with the State of Israel is permanent and unalterable. "We stand unwaveringly by Israel's side," said Haseloff on Thursday during a government statement in the state parliament. Recognizing the uniqueness of the Holocaust includes "Germany's unconditional solidarity with Israel: unreservedly and without any relativizing "yes, but".

Haseloff went on to say that people with a migration background must also be included in the culture of remembrance. They have "a different view of the German culture of remembrance due to their socialization" and have "not grown up with its narratives". A dialog about the future of remembrance was essential and included new ways of communicating the Holocaust.

Haseloff said that anti-Semitism had reached the center of society. However, the greatest danger in this context comes from right-wing extremism.

In the context of discussing Germany's solidarity with Israel, Haseloff mentioned that the State Parliament should stand unwaveringly by Israel's side, and Germany's unconditional solidarity with Israel is rooted in recognizing the unique nature of the Holocaust.

Given Haseloff's emphasis on including people with a migration background in the culture of remembrance, it's important to note that they may have a different perspective due to their socialization, and a dialogue about the future of remembrance should consider new ways of communicating the Holocaust to them.
