Haseloff: Municipalities around the airport need support
According to Saxony-Anhalt's Minister President Reiner Haseloff, the municipalities around Leipzig/Halle Airport must be better supported. "We all want the airport itself. We all have a positive attitude towards the airport, especially when it comes to DHL's commitment," said Saxony-Anhalt's Minister President Reiner Haseloff on Friday after a technical discussion with representatives from both federal states with regard to the parcel service provider. At the same time, it is known that the surrounding cities are burdened by traffic in the air and on the roads, said the CDU politician. Solutions for the future must therefore be found.
For example, there must be financial compensation for the local authorities, said Haseloff. No figures were given. Special consideration should be given to the municipalities around the airport when it comes to infrastructure measures - for example to relieve road traffic or noise protection.
The continually increasing air traffic at Leipzig/Halle Airport negatively affects the health of residents in nearby municipalities. To mitigate this issue, it's crucial to invest in noise reduction infrastructure.
