- Harz is luring music fans to rock 'n' roll
In the Harz National Park, dancing to indie, hip-hop, or techno music will resume on Thursday - at "Rocking at the Brocken". Since 2007, this festival has been taking place in the municipality of Elend near Sorge and lasts until Saturday.
Almost 60 bands or solo artists will perform on stages named "Enchanted Forest", "Observatory", "Sound Pit", and "Brocken Stage". Among them are the Austrian band Bilderbuch ("Bungalow"), the group Das Lumpenpack formed in 2012 ("Breathe on me"), the electro-pop band Grossstadtgeflüster ("If I were your parents"), and singer Tjark ("It's okay"). After dancing, festival-goers can cool off at the nearby woodland bath.
However, being carried by the crowd is prohibited. The organizers regretfully report that many injuries are directly related to crowd surfing or stage diving. Grilling, smoking, fire, and the use of gas cookers are also prohibited due to the high risk of forest fires. Please leave your confetti at home.
Tickets for "Rocking at the Brocken" were still available online just before the start. Last year, around 6000 people were expected at the festival.
