Agriculture - Harvest begins in Saxony-Anhalt

The first agricultural businesses have started harvesting this week. As the farmers' association announced on Friday, combine harvesters will run nationwide starting in July. On average, the association expects a harvest similar to the previous year for winter barley, but with some regional differences.

The weather in the first half of the year has been very different in the regions, according to the farmers' association. While some herds in the Anhalt district have been affected by drought stress, parts of the Wittenberg and Mansfeld-Südharz districts are still too wet. Locally, there have also been harvest damages caused by storms from the previous week.

Despite the varying weather conditions across different regions in Saxony-Anhalt, farmers are actively participating in the harvest process this week. Consequently, the farmers' association in Saxony-Anhalt is advocating for cooperation and support among its members to navigate the challenges posed by regional differences in crop yields.
