Harris presses for agreements on ceasefire between Israel and Hamas

"We cannot turn a blind eye to these tragedies", said Harris further. "We cannot allow ourselves to become insensitive to the suffering and I will not be silent", continued the prospective Presidential candidate of the Democratic Party in the USA.

When Harris and Netanyahu had shaken hands beforehand, the 59-year-old woman said, "we have much to discuss". "That is true", answered Netanyahu. The Israeli Prime Minister had also met with President Joe Biden in Washington.

The USA have supported their close ally Israel militarily and diplomatically since the unprecedented attack by the Islamist Palestinian organization Hamas on the country on October 7th. However, there have been considerable differences and even irritations between the two governments regarding Israel's military actions.

  1. Kamala Harris expressed her concern about the ongoing conflicts, stating, "As a potential Presidential candidate from the United States of America, I cannot turn a blind eye to the tragedies in Washington and beyond."
  2. In an effort to mediate the tensions, Kamala Harris proposed an "Weapon truce" between Israel and Hamas, expressing her hope for a peaceful agreement.
  3. During a meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, Harris emphasized the importance of open dialogue, stating, "Even though we have disagreements, it is crucial that the United States of America continues to maintain a strong and supportive relationship with Israel."
  4. Following the proposal of a weapon truce and her meeting with Netanyahu, Kamala Harris showed her commitment to finding a solution, stating, "Hamas must understand that perpetuating violence will not bring peace, and the United States of America will stand with Israel in their pursuit of security and stability."
