Lübeck boss - Harms: Pfeiffer will "have to face up to challenges"
Third division soccer club VfB Lübeck is increasing the pressure on coach Lukas Pfeiffer in the relegation battle in the 3rd division. "We believe that we can achieve the turnaround together. But regardless of that, it's also clear at this stage that sometimes dynamics can occur that are unpredictable. In such cases, you always have to reassess the situation," VfB sporting director Sebastian Harms told the German Press Agency ahead of the home match against FC Ingolstadt 04 (Saturday, 2 p.m./MagentaSport). "Of course, in our situation, we have to get results in perspective. In the long run, we can't buy anything from good performances. Lukas will also have to rise to the challenge."
After a strong start to the season with five points from the first three matches, newly promoted Lübeck suffered a series of setbacks, including a 3-0 defeat at SSV Ulm and a 4-0 loss at SC Verl. The Hanseatic side have picked up just two points in their last five games. After 17 match days, the newly promoted team is 17th in the table.
The 32-year-old Pfeiffer led the traditional club to promotion last season. Before the season, the Lübeck club trusted their coach so much that they continued to employ him without the required soccer instructor's license, accepting regular fines from the German Football Association.
