Music festival - Hardwell, Scooter, Heino - "Parookaville" almost sold out
Two weeks before the start, the annual Parookaville Festival for Electronic Music is almost sold out. From the 19th to the 21st of July, a total of 225,000 visitors are expected, of whom approximately 45,000 have booked camping and will be staying at the festival. The celebration lasts from Friday to Saturday until 4 am, and from Sunday night to Monday until 1 am.
At the stages of the fictional city "Parookaville" on an old military airfield in Weeze on the Lower Rhine, over 300 DJs and musicians will perform - including well-known artists such as the Dutch Hardwell and the band Scooter with H.P. Baxxter ("Hyper, Hyper"), the Hamburg DJ Felix Jaen, Robin Schulz and Armin van Buuren. The event is one of the major electronic festivals in Germany.
Fans of folk music are also invited: At the end of the festival on July 21st, Heino will make a stop as part of his "Das Beste" Solo Tour, the management of the artist announced. Planned is a short performance consisting of his biggest hits, including "Rosamunde" or "Blau blüht der Enzian". The "Wildecker Herzbuben" have also announced themselves.
A city of their own - with town hall and prison
For the festival, a small city with a post office, town hall and church will be built again. In the town hall, there is the Parookaville Pass with a stamp, and in the prison, tattoo artists are waiting for customers. New this year is a theater area, where, among other things, the comedian Oliver Pocher with his ex-wife Sandy Meyer-Wölden will record a podcast live. In addition, the area in front of the main stage has been expanded and now accommodates around 60,000 visitors.
Fans dig deep into their pockets: On Saturday, the ticket costs 149 Euro, for the entire weekend 249 Euro. Camping tickets are significantly more expensive, especially if luxury items such as a refrigerator are desired. "Comfort Tipis" for four people, for example, cost 2,599 Euro - and are already sold out. For a basic camping weekend ticket, the organizers demand 339 Euro.
Visitors must be at least 18 years old. However, older music fans would also be addressed, said the spokeswoman: The oldest visitor, according to previous bookings, was over 90. The average age of the guests is 29 to 30 years old.
Traditionally, at "Parookaville", people get married - on Friday, before it gets loud on the main stage and officially with a registrar. Numerous couples apply every year. The reason could not only be the colorful and lively atmosphere. According to the spokeswoman, all festival marriages have lasted since the beginning of the festival in the summer of 2015.
