FC Hansa Rostock has hired Bernd Hollerbach as their new manager following their demotion to the 3rd league. Previously, Mersad Selimbegovic was in charge but was dismissed after the team was relegated. Hansa's sports director, Amir Shapourzadeh, expressed excitement about Hollerbach's appointment in a statement: "We are thrilled that our target candidate, Bernd Hollerbach, has agreed to take on the challenge of a new beginning in the 3rd league and become the coach of the Kogge."

Hollerbach, a 54-year-old former Bundesliga player, most recently coached VV St. Truiden and Royal Excel Mouscron in the Belgian first division. Before that, he held coaching positions at Hamburger SV and Würzburg Kickers. The club has not disclosed the terms of Hollerbach's contract.

Yesterday, after being named Hansa's new head of professional football, Shapourzadeh expressed his intention to take his time in securing a new coach. "It's important to make a deliberate, not a rushed, decision." He then announced Hollerbach as the chosen candidate after approval from the supervisory board.

"He's familiar with the league, has the necessary experience, and can instill the necessary spirit in the team we need. He's the perfect fit for us, at the appropriate moment, in the ideal location," Shapourzadeh affirmed.

Hollerbach remarked on his positive experience during discussions with FC Hansa: "I'm excited to form a squad capable of playing an important part in the league, with the aid of the ardent Hansa supporters. This new start presents a challenge, but if we all unite and exert our best efforts, we can accomplish a lot."

Throughout his playing career, Hollerbach featured in 223 Bundesliga matches and 98 2nd division games. FC Hansa is set to publicly introduce their newly appointed manager at the start of the season.
