Hansa coach Schwartz challenged against Hertha

On a downward spiral in the 2nd Bundesliga and unlucky to be knocked out of the DFB Cup by league rivals 1. FC Nürnberg: coach Alois Schwartz is currently experiencing his most difficult phase at FC Hansa Rostock. He took up his post on the Baltic coast more than seven months ago, but the 56-year-old has not lost his confidence. "The team is a joy. It is alive and working well," he said on Friday.

After six defeats in the last seven league games and falling into the relegation zone, Schwartz is hoping for a turnaround on Sunday (1.30pm/Sky) against Hertha BSC. "It's an important game for us, the club and the fans. We know how important it is," he said.

However, the relegated side from Berlin are gradually finding their feet in the 2nd division after a weak start to the season. Four days after the 3-1 win against SC Paderborn in the league match, the club put down a marker in the DFB Cup on Wednesday with a 3-0 win against first division side Mainz 05.

"Hertha got off to a bad start and then recovered. In Fabian Reese and Haris Tabakovic, they have difference-makers in their ranks," said Schwartz, praising the two key players in Hertha's attack. "We know how dangerous they are, but we also know their weaknesses. That's exactly where we want to get in."

Rostock should take heart from the game in Nuremberg despite the unfortunate cup exit. They led 2:1 until shortly before the end of normal time, but then conceded another late goal. After extra time, the Rostock team lost 2:3. "We're currently having a tough time conceding goals and, above all, conceding them at the right time," said Schwartz. The team had already conceded a goal shortly before the end against SV Wehen Wiesbaden, who were promoted, to make the final score 0:1.

Despite their struggles in the Bundesliga 2, with six losses in the last seven games and a place in the relegation zone, Hansa Rostock's coach Alois Schwartz remains optimistic about a turnaround, especially against Hertha BSC in the upcoming match. Schwartz acknowledged Hertha's recent improvement in the 2nd Bundesliga, having recovered from a poor start and showcasing notable talents like Fabian Reese and Haris Tabakovic, but expressed confidence in his team's ability to exploit their weaknesses.
