Bundesliga 2 - Hansa boss Marien: No whitewashing and trivializing
Rostock CEO Robert Marien has announced "clear consequences" following the rioting by Hansa fans during the 3-0 defeat at SC Paderborn. "It's not enough to apologize and distance ourselves, there will be severe penalties - period. There will be no whitewashing or trivializing," the 42-year-old told Bild (Saturday). "There can be no overly soft punishments, there will have to be clear consequences."
The match in the 2nd Bundesliga was interrupted twice on Friday evening due to pyrotechnics being set off in the visitors' block and was about to be abandoned. According to the Paderborn police, there were several injuries and considerable damage to property in the stadium during the riots.
For Marien, "the external image and the events are now a complete disaster". He has learned from SCP managing director Martin Hornbeger and the police that there is plenty of video footage of the incidents: "We will process this and then the club will impose consequences and there will certainly also be criminal proceedings."
