Dense traffic - Hanover expects traffic jams due to major events

Legendary rock artist Bruce Springsteen ("Born in the U.S.A.") is performing in Hanover, along with a public viewing for the UEFA European Football Championship and what is reportedly the world's largest shooting festival: The police are warning for traffic congestion in the Lower Saxony state capital on Friday due to these large events. Significant traffic disruptions are expected around the stadium and at the shooting range, the police announced today. The authorities and the city recommend avoiding cars and using bus or train instead, particularly in the afternoon.

To ensure the safe conduct of the events, the police also announced street closures around the shooting range. Parking will not be allowed in that area. Drivers are advised to widely detour around the stadium on Friday.

The European Football Championship public viewing is additional major event drawing large crowds to Hanover, alongside Bruce Springsteen's concert. The upcoming traffic congestion in Hanover, primarily due to these events, has prompted municipalities to advise using public transportation instead. On Friday, the police will enforce street closures around the shooting range for crowd safety, making parking prohibited in that area.
