Handball Supercup also in Düsseldorf in 2024
The Handball Supercup will also be held in Düsseldorf in 2024. According to a statement on Thursday, all parties involved have agreed on this. The traditional duel between the champions and cup winners for the first title of the season will therefore take place for the seventh time in a row at the PSD Bank Dome on August 31 next year.
"With Sportstadt Düsseldorf, we have a very committed and professional partner that is undoubtedly capable of consistently developing top sporting events. We have also succeeded in doing this together with the Supercup, which has attracted more and more spectators year after year," said HBL Managing Director Frank Bohmann, explaining the decision.
The season opener has been held since 1994, with Stuttgart being the venue for four years before Düsseldorf. With the seventh edition, the NRW state capital of Düsseldorf will draw level with Munich, where the Supercup was held from 2005 to 2008 and 2010 to 2012.
The Handball Supercup, traditionally a duel between champions and cup winners, will once again take place in the Bundgesliga, specifically in Düsseldorf in 2024. The decision to host the event at the PSD Bank Dome was made due to the city's commitment and capability to organize top sporting events, as praised by HBL Managing Director Frank Bohmann.
