Handball players test twice against Portugal ahead of home European Championships

In Flensburg and Kiel, the German handball players will test their skills in January ahead of the European Championship at home. The team of national coach Alfred Gislason will face Portugal twice in a short space of time in test matches.

Handball players test twice against Portugal ahead of home European Championships

Germany's handball players will play two more test matches immediately before the home European Championship in January. As the German Handball Federation (DHB) announced on Thursday, the team of national coach Alfred Gislason will face Portugal on January 4 in Flensburg and on January 6 in Kiel. "Portugal is one of the most exciting teams in Europe. They will be tough challenges in Flensburg and Kiel - just right before the European Championship," said Gislason.

The home European Championship will take place from January 10 to 28. The DHB team led by captain Johannes Golla will face Switzerland in the opening match in Düsseldorf. Over 50,000 tickets have been sold for this match.

The German handball national team, led by DHB coach Alfred Gislason, will face Portugal in two test matches before the EM, specifically on January 4 in Flensburg and January 6 in Kiel. After these challenging games, Germany will participate in the home European Championship, beginning on January 10 and lasting until January 28, where they will open against Switzerland in Düsseldorf, with over 50,000 tickets already sold.
