Handball champions Bietigheim to be known as HB Ludwigsburg in future

Germany's best women's handball team will soon be history. The German champions and cup winners SG BBM Bietigheim will join HB Ludwigsburg for the 2024/25 season and will compete under this name in the Bundesliga in future. "With this change, we are securing the future of our women's handball at the highest level. Unfortunately, we no longer saw this prospect in Bietigheim, which is why we examined all options and have now found this ideal solution," said Bietigheim's managing director Bastian Dörr on Friday, explaining the move next summer.

The SG has celebrated success like a conveyor belt in recent years. The team won the championship title four times, the DHB Cup three times and the EHF Cup once. Under current national coach Markus Gaugisch, the club set a record with 63 cross-competition victories in a row, which is likely to stand the test of time. In the current season, Bietigheim leads the Bundesliga table with 15:1 points.

The women's handball team from SG BBM Bietigheim, renowned for their success in the Bundesliga, will transition to HB Ludwigsburg for the 2024/25 season. Despite their impressive run in the Bundesliga, winning championship titles and cups repeatedly, the team from Bietigheim will no longer represent the highest level of women's handball, as they are joining forces with HB Ludwigsburg.
