Upcoming European polls - Hamburg's Left Party leader expresses deep disappointment.
The leader of Hamburg's Left Party, Sabine Ritter, voiced her immense disappointment with her party's performance in the recent European elections. "We're really disheartened by this outcome," Ritter shared during a nightly interview on NDR.
The Left Party has clearly suffered from the ongoing separation of Sahra Wagenknecht's Alliance (BSW). "We're just going to have to accept that there's been a substantial turn towards the right not just in Germany, but also across Europe," Ritter explained.
As per estimations by ARD and ZDF, the Left Party is expected to achieve a dismal 2.7-2.8% nationwide (compared to their 5.5% gain in 2019), marking their poorest outcome in European elections. Conversely, the BSW is predicted to receive 5.7-6.1% of the votes.
In Hamburg, it appears the Left Party didn't fare as poorly. They're said to have captured 5.1% of the votes in the city - a slight improvement over their 7.0% share in the 2019 European elections.
