Variations in Numbers - Hamburg's job market remained steady in May, with 86,766 people unemployed.
In May, the number of unemployed individuals in Hamburg dropped approximately 700, leaving around 86,766 jobless people. This decrease in unemployment was accompanied by a fall of 0.2 percentage points, bringing the rate down to 7.8%. However, in the previous year, the rate had increased to 7.2%. The Federal Employment Agency derived this data from information that was collected until May 15.
Despite this minuscule dip, the labor market in Hamburg is currently stable. There are no significant alterations, according to the Regional Directorate of the Federal Employment Agency in Hamburg. Sönke Fock, the Chairperson of Employment Agency Hamburg's Management, added that "the spring economic recovery is underway, albeit somewhat delayed." While more people have obtained jobs, the growth remains modest. "We anticipate this outcome, but it's a positive sign that companies are still expanding their workforces and retaining employees," stated Fock.
Regarding the long-term unemployed, who constitute roughly 30% of the overall jobless population, their numbers decreased by 77, down to 26,600.
