Handball - Hamburg's handball players lose to the Rhein-Neckar Löwen

Handball Bundesliga team HSV Hamburg has lost its home game against Rhein-Neckar Löwen. The Hanseatic club suffered a 32:36 (15:19) defeat on Saturday. In front of 6741 spectators, Hamburg's Casper Mortensen and Niclas Kirkelökke from Mannheim were the best scorers with ten goals each.

Without their injured backcourt players Dani Baijens (broken hand) and Dominik Axmann (torn cruciate ligament), the home side found it very difficult in the opening spell. Juri Knorr, on the other hand, organized the Lions' play with a great deal of overview. The visitors led 15:8 in the 19th minute and HSVH's Head Coach Torsten Jansen called his second timeout.

Hamburg's play only really picked up after the break. Four goals in a row tied the scores at 19:19 (34'). Strong support in this phase came from goalkeeper Jens Vortmann, who, among other things, fished a seven-meter penalty from Mannheim's Gustav Davidsson out of the air.

However, the home side then missed numerous opportunities to take the lead. This ended a long dry spell for the Lions. After Hamburg's return to the Bundesliga, they had lost all four duels with the North Germans.
