Hamburg's handball players lose in Berlin - Axmann injured
Handball Bundesliga team HSV Hamburg has conceded its eighth defeat of the season. Coach Torsten Jansen's team lost 31:37 (18:16) at Füchse Berlin in front of 9,000 spectators on Sunday. Asat Waliullin was the most successful scorer with seven goals for the North Germans, who now have 12:16 points to their name. Hans Lindberg scored ten times for Berlin.
With a good Jens Vortmann in goal, the Hanseatic side pulled away from 2:0 (3rd minute) to 8:5 (12th minute). Initially, only Lindberg was the trump card for the Berliners. The former Hamburg player scored the capital's first four goals single-handedly.
There was then a moment of shock for Hamburg in the 17th minute. Backcourt player Dominik Axmann suffered a serious injury to his left knee during an attacking move. However, HSVH did not initially let the injury or the fact that the hall lights were out for a few minutes due to a technical defect get in their way and went into the break with a two-goal lead.
After the break, the game gradually tipped in the hosts' favor, with the U21 world champions Nils Lichtlein as the director and Lasse Ludwig in goal now setting the tone. The score was equalized at 19:19 (35') and the Foxes took the lead for the first time at 22:21 (38') through Andersson to turn the game around.
Despite the injury to Dominik Axmann, HSV Hamburg's backcourt player, HSV Hamburg continued to push in the first half, with Asat Waliullin scoring seven goals. Regardless of Füchse Berlin's home advantage, led by U21 world champions Nils Lichtlein and Lasse Ludwig, the Foxes managed to secure their first lead of the match, eventually winning 31:37 against HSV Hamburg in Bundesliga.
