Hamburg's handball players lose 28:29 at Bergischer HC
Handball Bundeslist HSV Hamburg has conceded its second defeat in a row. The team of coach Torsten Jansen surrendered a three-goal lead in the final phase at Bergischer HC on Saturday and lost 28:29 (14:16). The Hamburg club has now dropped to tenth place with 10:14 points and is just three points ahead of the first relegation place. Frederik Bo Andersen was the best scorer for the North Germans with eight goals. Linus Arnesson was most successful for the hosts with seven goals.
The Hanseatic side struggled at the start of the game, scoring just one goal in the first seven minutes. The BHC, on the other hand, started with great self-confidence. Arnesson overcame the 2.05-meter-tall HSVH goalkeeper Johannes Bitter twice with a lob from penalty throws.
It took until the start of the second half for Hamburg to find its rhythm. Andreas Magaard made it 19:18 in the 35th minute to give the North Germans their first ever lead. Right winger Andersen increased the lead to 21:18 with two goals in succession (39').
The visitors were still 28:25 ahead in the 57th minute. However, they then failed to score again until the final whistle. Mads Andersen scored the decisive goal for the BHC victory with a long-range shot.
