Hamburg SPD state party conference has begun

The ordinary state party conference of the Hamburg SPD began on Friday evening. The candidates for the European elections are to be nominated that evening. There are three promising candidates for the first Hamburg place on the SPD national list: Irene Appiah from the Hamburg-Mitte district, Laura Frick from Wandsbek and Danial Ilkhanipour from the Eimsbüttel district. The European Parliament election in Germany is on June 9, 2024.

The co-chair of the party, Nils Weiland, emphasized the importance of port policy at European level before the start of the party conference. Things have not gone well for the Port of Hamburg in recent years, Weiland said at the state representatives' meeting in the Bürgerhaus Wilhelmsburg. That had to change.

At the Hamburg SPD state party conference, discussions about the importance of effective shipping policies at European levels are expected to take place, given the challenges faced by the Port of Hamburg. Party supporters attending the conference might also express their support for candidates nominated for the upcoming Parties in the European elections, such as Irene Appiah, Laura Frick, and Danial Ilkhanipour, who are vying for the first Hamburg spot on the SPD national list.
