Hamburg handball team signs U21 world champion Sauter

Bundesliga handball club HSV Hamburg has signed U21 world champion Moritz Sauter. The 20-year-old centerman will join from Bundesliga rivals Füchse Berlin for the 2024/25 season and has signed a two-year contract in the Hanseatic city. This was announced by HSVH on Thursday.

"Moritz is a very well-trained youngster in his overall package who has worked hard to achieve his goals. He has a lot of similarities with my ideas of the handball game, so he fits in perfectly with us," said Hamburg coach Torsten Jansen about Sauter, who currently also plays for 1. VfL Potsdam in the 2nd Bundesliga with a second playing right.

Sauter, who is studying medical technology alongside handball, is to take over the role of Dani Baijens in Hamburg. The Dutchman, who currently has an injury to his throwing hand, will move to Champions League club Paris Saint-Germain in France next summer.

HSVH is back in Bundesliga action on Friday (20:00/Dyn). HC Erlangen will then be the guests in the Sporthalle Hamburg.

The new signing Moritz Sauter, who recently won the U21 world championship, will be joining Bundesliga handball club HSV Hamburg from Füchse Berlin for the 2024/25 season. After securing a two-year contract, Sauter is set to replace Dani Baijens in the HSV Hamburg team, with the Dutch player moving to Champions League club Paris Saint-Germain next summer due to an injury to his throwing hand.
