Hamburg Airport: Preparations for resumption underway
Following the end of the hostage-taking at Hamburg Airport, the airport is preparing to resume flight operations. "Preparations for the resumption of flight operations are in full swing. The access roads and terminals are open again," the airport announced on the X platform (formerly Twitter) early on Sunday evening. However, there are still cancellations and delays in flight operations. Passengers should check their flight status and contact the airline if necessary.
The armed man who raced onto the apron of the airport with his car and his four-year-old child on Saturday evening was arrested after more than 18 hours. The airport had temporarily suspended flight operations during the hostage-taking.
Despite the resumed operations at Hamburg Airport, there have been reports of increased air traffic security measures due to the recent incident. Additionally, it's unfortunate that incidents of crime, such as thefts, have emerged in the airport premises, increasing the need for enhanced security measures.
