Hamburg Airport is expecting comparatively low traffic over the holidays and the turn of the year. Around 350,000 arriving and departing passengers are expected from December 22 to January 1, Germany's fifth-largest airport announced on Monday. "Most passengers depart on the Friday before Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve," it said. "With a total of 40,000 passengers, the airport is expecting the busiest day on December 23." In contrast, up to 56,000 passengers used the airport on the peak days of the fall vacations.

Despite the low air traffic over the holidays, Hamburg's tourism sector might still see some activity, as many travelers may plan to explore the city after their flights. The Hamburg airport, known for its significant air traffic during peak seasons, will witness a significant drop in passengers during the upcoming holiday period.
