Finances - Hamburg: 1.59 billion euros for child and youth services
Whether childcare in daycare centers or money for homes and foster families - the city of Hamburg spent around 1.59 billion euros on child and youth welfare last year. This was only slightly more than in 2021, according to the Statistical Office for Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein on Monday. Expenditure increased by 0.3 percent compared to the previous year. Most of this money - 69 percent - was used for childcare, for example in daycare centers. A further 25 percent was spent on educational assistance. This includes education in homes or foster families, educational counseling or socio-educational family assistance.
